Sinch pricing

Sinch charges a flat $0.0078 per outbound SMS on 10DLC and toll-free numbers, with no volume discount published anywhere on the site. The same rate applies to inbound messages, and carrier fees are added on top of every quoted figure without being quantified. Short code outbound messages cost $0.009 each. Volume pricing is available only through a sales conversation, and Sinch states it “aims to update prices at midnight UTC,” so the rate you see at the time of sending is the rate that applies. All figures below were captured on September 9, 2026.

Message TypeNumber TypeSend (per message)Receive (per message)
SMS10DLC$0.0078$0.0078
SMSToll-free$0.0078$0.0078

MMS10DLC$0.02$0.02
MMSToll-free$0.018$0.018

Monthly number fees add to the base rate: 10DLC numbers cost $1.00 per month plus a $1.00 setup fee, toll-free numbers run $2.00 per month with a $2.00 setup charge, and short codes cost $500 per month for a random number or $1,000 for a vanity number. Carrier short-code setup fees are separate, with T-Mobile charging $500 and Verizon charging $500 for a standard code or $2,000 for a new one. A community FAQ page, which Sinch itself disclaims as “only indications and may be subject to change,” lists a 10DLC registration and penalty schedule that includes a $10,000 one-time content-violation fee, a $10,000 one-time text-enablement fee, and a $250 non-usage fee.

Sinch features

Sinch Build gives developers a single console for SMS, MMS, RCS, WhatsApp, Voice, Verification, Numbers, SIP trunking, and Fax. The SMS API supports two-way messaging, scheduled sends, message templates, and delivery reporting. SMPP bulk submission is available alongside the REST API, and the platform provisions 10DLC, toll-free, and short code numbers directly inside the dashboard.

Sinch publishes SDKs for Node.js, Java, .NET, and Python, plus a Sinch CLI, serverless Functions, and an MCP server install for Cursor and VS Code. The documentation hub covers the full SMS API reference, a separate SMPP section, and a Conversation API with a versioned Template Management API. Sinch does not offer email-to-SMS on this product, a feature that exists only on the separate Sinch Engage platform. The integrations marketplace displays 40 named tiles, though separate marketing pages claim “500+ Platform integrations,” and the two figures are not reconciled anywhere on the site.

Sinch reliability and compliance

Sinch’s contractual SLA, version 7.0 dated January 12, 2024, commits to 99.95 percent minimum monthly service availability on a “reasonable endeavours” basis. A separate marketing claim of 99.99 percent appears on the Build page and homepage, but that figure is not the contractual one. The SLA is scoped to services ordered under an Order Form, so it does not automatically apply to self-serve pay-as-you-go or trial accounts. Sinch states it has 600 or more direct carrier connections, with roughly 12,800 interconnections and direct connections in over 160 countries.

On compliance, Sinch has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit specifically for “Sinch Messaging API - SMS,” with the report available on request through its Trust Center. 10DLC brand and campaign registration with The Campaign Registry happens inside the Sinch Build dashboard, and toll-free number verification is free of charge. ISO 27001 certification is asserted in marketing copy, but the only downloadable ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certificates in the Trust Center belong to Mailgun Technologies Inc., Sinch’s email business, and the badge row shows only GDPR and HECVAT. HIPAA status is inconsistent: Sinch calls itself “HIPAA-eligible” in the Build FAQ and “HIPAA compliant” on its About Us page, but no signed Business Associate Agreement is published, and the Trust Center badge row shows no HIPAA badge.

Sinch support

Sinch’s Help Desk is available 24/7 for fault reporting. Contractual initial response targets are 30 minutes for P1 incidents, one hour for P2, 24 hours for P3, and 48 hours for P4. The US support escalation line for P1 and P2 incidents is +1 844 207 0266, and the Americas office line is +1 844 847 4624, available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern. Sinch does not publish whether support access is restricted on trial or self-serve accounts. Support channels include a ticket portal at support.sinch.com, email, telephone for priority incidents, and a community knowledge base with a developer forum. The documentation hub at developers.sinch.com provides full API references, SDK guides, and a dedicated SMPP section.

Sinch alternatives

Twilio is the category benchmark for self-serve CPaaS platforms, with a long-standing third-party integration marketplace and verification tooling. Its published integration count is a useful contrast to Sinch’s disputed 40-versus-500-plus figure.

Telnyx operates its own private, global IP network rather than purely reselling carrier capacity. Buyers who want more control over message and call routing may prefer a provider with owned infrastructure.

Bandwidth is a facilities-based carrier that owns its own nationwide US telephone network end-to-end. It offers a direct comparison to Sinch’s 600-plus direct carrier connections for buyers who prioritize direct-to-carrier delivery.

Sinch verdict

Pros:

  • Flat $0.0078 per outbound SMS rate with no minimum spend, available at sign-up
  • SOC 2 Type II completed and named for the SMS API product specifically
  • 600 or more direct carrier connections with global reach
  • Deep developer documentation with SDKs, CLI, and MCP server support
  • No-card free trial with a pre-provisioned test number

Cons:

  • Trustpilot score of 1.5 out of 5 from 31 reviews, though complaints skew toward the voice network rather than SMS
  • HIPAA status is a claim, not a certificate, with no signed BAA published
  • ISO 27001 certification for the SMS product is undocumented, with only Mailgun certificates available for download
  • Integration count is contradictory, with 40 marketplace tiles versus a “500+” marketing claim
  • 10DLC penalty schedule includes a $10,000 content-violation fee and is buried in a disclaimed community article

Sinch suits US-based developers and mid-size senders who want a large, direct-carrier CPaaS provider at a low, predictable per-message rate. The $0.0078 entry price works from message one, and the platform is strongest for buyers already inside Sinch’s wider Voice, Verification, and RCS ecosystem. Sinch does not suit buyers who need a signed HIPAA BAA out of the box, buyers who weigh public review sentiment heavily, or high-volume senders who want a published discount ladder rather than a “contact sales” path. Buyers looking for the marketing-style SMS platform under the Sinch umbrella should note that Sinch Engage, the former MessageMedia product, is a separate platform with its own seat-and-allowance pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sinch’s SMS rate get cheaper at higher volume?

No published volume discount exists. The $0.0078 per-message rate for 10DLC and toll-free is both the entry price and the floor. Volume pricing requires contacting sales.

Is Sinch HIPAA compliant?

Sinch uses inconsistent language, calling itself “HIPAA-eligible” and “HIPAA compliant” on different pages, but publishes no signed BAA. Its Trust Center shows no HIPAA badge.

What uptime does Sinch guarantee?

The contractual SLA commits to 99.95 percent minimum monthly availability on a “reasonable endeavours” basis. A separate marketing claim of 99.99 percent is not the contractual figure.

Does Sinch support email-to-SMS?

No. Email-to-SMS is not a feature of Sinch’s SMS API. It exists only on the separate Sinch Engage platform, the former MessageMedia product.

How many integrations does Sinch have?

Sinch’s marketplace shows 40 named integrations, but separate marketing pages claim “500+ Platform integrations.” The two figures are not reconciled.
